PG Diploma in
Conservation and Heritage Management :
Karnataka University, Dharwad in collabortion with
Regional Conservatin Laboratory (unit of National
Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural
Property(NRLC), Ministry of Culture, Government of
India, Lucknow), Siddharathnagar, Mysore will start
a new Post Graduate Diploma in conservation and
heritage management from this academic year. It is
an out come of a MoU signed on 29th July,
2009 by Karnataka University, Dharwad and RCL (unit
of NRLC), Mysore. This course will be managed by the
three Depts namely Kannada Research Institute, Dept
of Master of Tourism, K.U. Dharwad and RCL, Mysore.
Many
trained, skilled professionals are needed in the
country to manage and conserve its vast and diverse
cultural, artistic and architechtural heritage.
This diploma course will help the Indian youths to
acquire professional skills required for the jobs
in this newly emerging field of heritage
conservation and management. The passed out
students can do private conservation practice ,
secure jobs in museums, archives, libraries,
conservation laboratories ,get immediate placement
as the interns in the field projects run by NRLC,
Lucknow and its unit at Mysore
The
entry point is graduation;B.Sc.with Chemistry as a
major subject or Bachlor in Fine Arts ( BFA) or BA
in Ancient Indian History and Epigraphy or History
and Archaeology or any other equivalent degree
provided they studied Archaeology or History Arts as
one of the of it subjects at the degree level with
at least 50% marks will be eligible to apply for the
course. Total number of searts are 16 out of which
6 are for inservice candidates and remaining are for
the freshers. The course will be conducted in two
parts at two places i.e., Kannada Research
Institute, Karnataka University, Dharwad and
Regional Conservation Laboratory (unit of NRLC),
Siddharathanagar, Mysore.
The
course is already notified by the Karnataka
University, Dharwad vide their notification number
KU/Aca/P.G/Adm/2009-10/54 dated 08.07.2009 which has
appeared in Deccan Herald and can also be seen at
their website
www.kud.ernet.in. Interested may apply
downloding the application from the website. Duly
filled application must reach to Director, Kannada
Research Institute, Karnataka University,
Pawatenagar, Dharwad within due date ..
